Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse aims to prevent cruelty against animals and birds through legal course. The Cell takes legal action against culprits who abuse, harm and kill animals.
Animal abuse is so common that every day you hear or read about the barbaric nature of humans towards animals. Most people think that they can get away with harming animals. It is not strays who face the wrath of cruel people but even pets inside homes are prone to abuse. Utkarsh regularly spreads awareness about the various sections of law that could invite harsh punishments if anyone is found harming animals.
Animal abuse will come to an end only if there is harsher punishment. It is essential to take legal action against such culprits. Hence, we have set up Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse to prevent attack and abuse of poor animals and to ensure the culprits are brought to book. Advocate Poonam Parmar serves as the Head of the legal cell.
One of the first victories of Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse was persuading BMC to remove their Corona Advisory Posters cautioning people to stay away from animals to prevent spread of the coronavirus. The guidance stickers released in March 2020 was creating panic among common citizens. As it is, animals are abused and such an advisory would have created fear and anxiety in the minds of the people which could have led to further hatred against animals. Utkarsh Legal Cell Against Animal Abuse approached MCGM and requested them to discontinue such misleading information. They soon omitted the point from their information stickers.
